Role & Responsibilities
Raytheon UK’s Courseware and Media Development Capability (CMDC) is looking for Principal Training Developers to support development for our training materials.
Responsibilities
- Effectively managing a team of Training Developers and/or Senior Training Developers.
- Efficiently delegating tasks within the team to leverage existing skills and developing future talent.
- Serve as the accountable owner for all work produced within the respective area of expertise, ensuring it meets the agreed standards, objectives, and expectations.
- Driving continuous improvement and change initiatives within the respective skillset to ensure our processes and products remain of the highest quality and up to date with latest initiatives and advances in technology.
- Working closely with the rest of the Principal Training Developers to ensure alignment across quality, output and future direction.
- Coaching & mentoring training developers and aligning development opportunities where possible to help raise skills and competencies.
- Actively focused on promoting innovation and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in support of team Goals.
- Produce interactive learning material for our customer’s training courses in accordance with CMDC production process, Development Manual and Style Guides.
- Creation of technology-led training, exploiting effective asset management and workflows.
- Consider, champion, and implement innovative training solutions to meet our customer’s training needs.
- Actively speaking up and asking questions, providing ideas and sharing knowledge / expertise across CMDC.
- Role modelling a proactive and willing approach, professional attitude, and leadership behaviours across CMDC.
- Comply with Raytheon and Customer policies.
- Carry out any other reasonable task such as assisting the other areas within Raytheon when required.
- Employees are responsible for their own Health and Safety and that of work colleagues and customers.
- The nature of Customer’s training requires a high degree of flexibility for all Raytheon staff; there may be a requirement for travel to other sites within the UK.
- Be responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement.
- Any other duties required to complete the CMDC Training Service.
The ideal candidate has a background in training development, learning & development, or media creation and is comfortable working within a standardised development environment, thinks creatively, is confident, excels in a collaborative team atmosphere, and is detail oriented.
A professional attitude, ability to follow technical and workflow processes, and solid communication skills are essential.
- Required experience
- Experience in creating and developing content within the required tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud suite of design tools, 3DS Max, Blender, Unity, and Articulate 360.
- Ensure instructional materials align with best practices and internal quality standards.
- Must be organised and work well both independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
- Applying instructional design theories and adult learning principles to create high-quality learning experiences.
- Ability to comprehend/interpret technical and non-technical information and apply it to visual mediums.
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment.
- To effectively communicate with stakeholders outside of the training development team to gather technical information necessary for development.
- Experience of supporting and developing others.
- Experience leading small teams to ensure standards and project milestones are met.
- Ability to confidently use MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Share Point).
- The successful candidate must be able to qualify for SC security clearance.
- Required education
- A qualification in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Learning & Development, or a related field at the minimum grade of QCF Level 4 or equivalent.
- 2 years’ experience in creating and developing training content with intermediate levels of proficiency in respective skillset.
