Position Role Type: Hybrid

About us: At OMNIA® Training, we’ve brought together some of the UK’s most innovative defence training organisations under one powerful mission: to transform the British Army’s training system and create the best-trained Army in the world. OMNIA are redefining the British Army’s collective training. To do that, we are looking for the best and brightest minds from across the UK. We are backed by British innovation and powered by world-class experts, like you. OMNIA is at the heart of the UK’s bold Land Industrial Strategy.

The role: This is more than a job — it’s a mission. You will be part of a high-impact, collaborative environment, where we expect everyone to live the values and standards of the British Army. Every person in our team plays a critical role in delivering OMNIA’s vision; designing, delivering, and transforming collective training so the British Army is ready to fight and win. You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally through the OMNIA Data Lead. Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse complex datasets and translate findings into actionable insights aligned with Army training objectives.
  • Design and deliver clear, meaningful visualisations and reports that support operational decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain data models, metrics, and metadata structures to improve training analytics.
  • Maintain and govern data dictionaries to ensure consistency and shared understanding across domains.
  • Collaborate with data architects and engineers to ensure analytical outputs align with enterprise architecture and platform standards.
  • Support the evolution of data architectures by contributing analytical requirements and feedback.
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders to inform strategy and operational improvements.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis and limited prototyping to evaluate emerging data techniques relevant to training analytics.
  • Ensure analytics processes comply with security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply architecture principles and security controls within analytical workflows.
  • Author and maintain documentation to ensure analytical processes are repeatable, auditable, and scalable.
  • Utilise the Omnia Data Lakehouse platform effectively, providing insight into performance optimisation and alignment with training needs.

Who we are looking for:

You’ll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to ‘get things done’. You’ll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You’ll understand what it means to put the mission first.

We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented Data Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about unlocking the value of data to improve Army training outcomes, with a strong ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They should be comfortable working across hybrid cloud environments, collaborating with engineers and architects, and contributing to the evolution of innovative, secure, and scalable data solutions. A proactive mindset, eagerness to explore emerging technologies, and commitment to data integrity and governance are essential. This role requires a systems-thinking mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work across engineering teams in a complex and evolving environment.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a Data Analyst or similar analytical role, ideally within defence, government, or complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience working within large-scale, secure data environments and contributing to digital transformation initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of data architecture principles and experience collaborating with engineering teams in Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling, including support for metadata and data dictionary management.
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams including architects, engineers, and programme leads.
  • Understanding of data security principles, governance frameworks, and MOD compliance standards.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating structured datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis, data wrangling, and automation.
  • Experience building dashboards and visualisations using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills for analytical modelling and reporting.

  • Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related discipline (MSc desirable but not essential), or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Knowledge or experience of Army doctrine and analysing training performance data and metrics and Performance Indicators.
  • Experience with additional BI and analytics platforms (e.g. Looker, Elastic Stack, or similar visualisation and observability tools).
  • Knowledge of data protection and compliance frameworks (e.g. UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, or comparable regulatory standards).
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, AWS/Azure Data Fundamentals, DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or equivalent).
