Work Culture

Role & Responsibilities

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the Royal Navy Training Design Service. As the Training Design Lead, you’ll support the Integrated Training Design Service to deliver learning that is blended, active and provides customer delight.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, influence stakeholders, and represent the Training Design Service with professionalism and credibility at all levels.
  • Accountable for all training courses assigned to you and your team in relation to training transformation, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards.
  • Act as an advocate for the creation of training content that is not only active and engaging, but also inclusive and learner centric.
  • Proactively manage risks, mitigate potential issues, and ensure timely, transparent escalation of challenges to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Ensure training course changes follow the end-to-end design process, are DSAT-compliant, meet quality standards, and are appropriately resourced, while proactively managing and escalating any risks to delivery.
  • Take accountability for the continuous professional development and growth of both you and your team, unlocking potential and enabling high performance. Demonstrating genuine care for the wellbeing, engagement, and success of your team.
  • Inspire and motivate others, creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Manage employee relations within the HR framework with professionalism and empathy.
  • Champion and foster a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Follow security standards and system requirements to protect data and ensure smooth operations.
  • Undertake any other duties required to support the Integrated Training Design Service.

Required experience

  • Demonstrate strong leaderships skills and a passion for people, that inspires and drive successful outcomes and supports team wellbeing and growth.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration, communication and be adept at building strong relationships.
  • Training and/or Instructional Design.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, a passion for quality and be able to plan and multitask. Adopt a flexible approach to the role, adapt to evolving priorities.

Desirable experience

  • Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation model (ADDIE model) and Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
  • Program management tools and applications.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies
