This is a hybrid role based at our Plymouth site, where we design and manufacture control, navigation, and guidance systems for both air and surface applications. Our world-class products include MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and the TERPROM® Digital Terrain Reference Navigation System. Our growth plan includes development and extension of our current technologies into state of the art military and civil aircraft applications and we’re looking for exceptional engineers to join us on that journey.
What You Will Do
As a Systems Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing, integrating, and validating complex embedded systems. Working across hardware, software, and mechanical domains, you’ll contribute to projects from concept through to delivery, helping ensure our systems perform flawlessly in the most demanding environments. Your day-to-day will include:
- Working with our customers and key stakeholders to understand and capture the system level use cases, concept of operations and requirements.
- Development of the system architecture.
- Interfacing with stakeholders across Systems, Software, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering and developing requirement specifications for each component of the system.
- Supporting system integration for real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software interfaces.
- Ensuring requirement-to-requirement and requirements-to-test traceability throughout the design.
- Developing test cases and procedures against the requirements and executing tests.
- Applying logical and innovative problem-solving across software, hardware, and system levels.
- Providing inputs to project planning, estimations and progress reporting.

What You Must Have
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience as a Systems Engineer, covering the full development lifecycle.
- Strong requirements analysis and management skills.
- Experience of architectural design and decomposition.
- Experience of creating test plans, test cases and procedures and executing test programmes.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS (or Jama or similar).
- Familiarity with version control systems (SVN, Git, Teamwork Cloud).
Skills & Experience We Value
- Experience with SysML tools such as EA (or Cameo) is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics.
- Data analysis.
- Experience of Control Systems Engineering.
- Experience of Digital Signal Processing.
- Experience with platforms that utilise inertial sensors and associated requirements.
- Experience using COTS test equipment in a lab environment (oscilloscopes, bus analysers, etc.).
- Experience with hardware in the loop test.
- MATLAB.
