At Collins Aerospace, precision and reliability guide everything we do. Our Plymouth site is a centre of excellence for advanced navigation and control systems, delivering world-class technologies such as MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and TERPROM® terrain navigation systems. We support some of the most demanding aerospace and defence programmes in the world and now, we’re looking for a Project Engineer onsite to help shape the next generation of aerospace technology. What You Will Do

  • Act as a technical lead across the full project lifecycle, owning the technical vision and delivery
  • Work closely with discipline leads to deliver complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Serve as the customer’s technical focal point, managing technical delivery, change, and communication
  • Ensure projects are delivered to schedule, cost, and quality
  • Lead systems engineering activities, including requirements management and compliance
  • Provide technical input to planning, estimation, and project management
  • Support customer presentations, technical meetings, trials, and exhibitions
  • Contribute to bids and proposals, including resourcing and technical compliance
  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications, solution development, and compliance tracking
  • Travel occasionally to UK and international customer sites for meetings, trials, and programme reviews

Qualifications We Prefer

Essential

  • A strong technical background, with a 2:1 Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline such as Mathematics or Physics
  • Experience working within an engineering and/or manufacturing organisation
  • Ability to operate effectively in a technical environment, contributing to engineering delivery and problem-solving
  • A clear and confident communicator, able to work with customers, engineers, and project stakeholders

Desirable

  • Background or experience in Systems Engineering
  • Experience leading or coordinating project teams within an engineering environment
  • Exposure to sensor-based technologies, electronics, or complex technical systems
  • Experience working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
