Are you ready to take your career to new heights in the aerospace industry? At our Kilkeel Facility, we manufacture aircraft interior seating for a number of worldwide customers, and we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our fast-paced and innovative team.
The successful candidate can expect to:
- Maintain and improve Collins Quality management systems to ensure on-going effectiveness.
- Ensure that all products are manufactured to relevant international standard(s) and meet or exceed Collins Aerospace and customer needs.
- Ensure that product certification processes continue to meet FAA/EASA/CAA/AS9100 requirements.
These roles are based onsite at our Moor Road facility in Kilkeel. The hours of work are 37.5 per week.
What You Will Do:
- Lead, mentor and develop the new product introduction (NPI) team in APQP processes and individual skills in order to support the business goals and manage performance.
- Identify training needs and implement a plan to ensure the NPI team can deliver new programs within cost, on time and to specification, whilst ensuring risk and mitigation management and compliance with Customer Quality requirements.
- Drive development of Quality Criteria Documents (QCD), FMEA's, Control Plans and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) throughout the team, ensuring a consistent approach is utilized and improvement opportunities are maximized.
- Development and improvement of Quality Engineering and Quality Management System (QMS) processes that support Quality Policies contributing to best-in-class performance in all areas, including Quality Management System and Process Audits.
- Represent the business with customers and regulatory authorities with the objective of inspiring confidence and enabling positive cooperation in the quality of products and services provided.
- Support and lead continuous improvement through 5S, Lean and Problem Solving.
- Promote and support a safe working environment in line with Company objectives.
- Identify and lead projects that align with the business goals and the overall strategic direction of the facility.
- Encourage cross departmental collaboration and knowledge sharing throughout the business.
- Encourage and motivate others to make decisions and take calculated risks to achieve new levels of business performance.
- Any other duties as required to support business needs.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in Quality or Engineering environment.
- 3 years working experience in Quality or Engineering gained in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline OR a third level qualification, such as HNC/HND, in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Previous experience coaching and mentoring.
- Experience of applying structured Problem Solving activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Previous experience leading small teams.
- Relevant management training e.g. participation on the Step Up Programme.
- Knowledge and application of ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
- Membership of or working towards accreditation of an Engineering body.
- Knowledge of APQP tools & processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
