At Raytheon UK, we take immense pride in being a leader in defence and aerospace technology. As an employer, we are dedicated to fuelling innovation, nurturing talent, and fostering a culture of excellence. Joining our team means being part of an organisation that shapes the future of national security whilst investing in your growth and personal development. We provide a collaborative environment, abundant opportunities for professional development, and a profound sense of purpose in what we do.
About the role: We are seeking a capable and motivated Application Support Engineer to join our wider Data and BI Product Family. This role will initially focus on providing technical deployment and application support for a major financial planning transformation, working closely with programme teams and Digital Technology functions such as Architecture, Security, and Operations.
The role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, hands‑on experience with financial planning platforms, and a solid foundation in operating system and application support. As the programme transitions toward go‑live, the Application Support Engineer will play a key role in knowledge transfer, documentation, and training, ensuring the broader support team is fully equipped to manage the new platform in a live environment.
You will initially be aligned with the programme and transition to your home team as the programme nears delivery where you will integrate with the wider team and pick up other application support tasks as required. Agile experience is highly advantageous, as this role sits within an engineering product family that operates using modern, iterative delivery methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Deployment & Technical Support: Support the initial deployment, configuration, and technical validation of the new financial platform. Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and issue resolution across application, interface and configuration layers. Work closely with infrastructure, network, and security teams to ensure end‑to‑end environment readiness.
- Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Engagement: Collaborate with key programme stakeholders including Architecture, Engineering, Programme Delivery, QA, and Finance Operations. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to iterative delivery cycles, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement. Assist in interpreting architectural and design requirements into actionable support tasks.
- Operational Readiness & Transition: Prepare the wider support organisation for steady‑state operations by developing documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles. Deliver training and knowledge‑transfer sessions to ensure operational teams can confidently support the live Finance platform. Contribute to hyper‑care and early life support activities post‑go‑live.
- Monitoring, Incident Management & Continuous Improvement: Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to ensure system availability and performance. Manage incident triage, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for platform‑related issues. Identify opportunities to enhance stability, resilience, and operational efficiency of the platform.
Candidate requirements:
Essential: Proven experience in application support, ideally with finance platforms, OneStream in particular. Strong understanding of Service Management frameworks such as ITIL. Solid background in operating system management (Windows/Linux), application troubleshooting and performance optimisation, log analysis, system monitoring, and incident management. Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Experience working in structured delivery environments; familiarity with Agile ways of working is advantageous.
Desirable: Experience in support of a wide range of Data and MI/BI platforms. Experience supporting applications in regulated industries (e.g., government, aerospace and defence). Knowledge of integration concepts (ETL, Event, APIs, message‑based interfaces). Exposure to deployment automation or DevOps practices.
Personal Attributes: Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset. Clear communicator able to work across diverse technical teams. Proactive, collaborative, and committed to delivering high‑quality support. Adaptable, eager to learn, and able to transition seamlessly between project and BAU contexts.
