What You Will Do

Reporting to the ASG‑UK Site Lead – Chief Engineer, you will be the technical focal point for the project across the full product lifecycle, from concept development and architecture definition through design, verification, certification, industrialisation and in‑service support.

You will shape future electric actuation system technologies and deliver robust, reliable and certifiable solutions for demanding aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to a multifunctional product development team.
  • Drive innovation of new technology and mature robust product designs to certification for aerospace electric actuation applications.
  • Work within a team of engineers contributing to the development of aerospace actuation systems.
  • Provide technical input and engineering expertise across assigned work packages.
  • Support system design activities throughout the full product lifecycle, from requirements through to qualification and production support.
  • Contribute to system trade studies and technical assessments.
  • Support engineering planning activities in collaboration with project and engineering leads.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development of robust and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Work with subject‑matter experts to ensure engineering integrity and compliance with design processes.
  • Assist with technical investigations and contribute to root‑cause analysis activities.
  • Capture lessons learned and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Support customer and supplier technical discussions where required.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering tools, methods and future capability.
  • Prepare technical documentation and engineering outputs.
  • Share knowledge and support the development of junior engineers within the team.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification (Mechanical or related discipline preferred).
  • Experience in aerospace or electro‑mechanical system design and development.
  • Understanding of aerospace actuation systems or similar complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience supporting technical investigations and engineering issue resolution.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles and design processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a structured engineering environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
  • Desirable: experience working on aerospace development or certification programmes.
  • Knowledge of electro‑mechanical actuation systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools and methods (e. g. CAD/FEA tools such as CATIA or ANSYS).
  • Understanding of aerospace development standards (e. g. ARP4754, DO‑178, DO‑254).
  • Experience supporting design reviews and engineering verification activities.
