Based in a new bespoke facility in Wolverhampton, this position offers a unique chance to influence manufacturing strategy, develop advanced production capability, and directly support the delivery of differentiated aerospace actuation and equipment products. Reporting to the ASG‑UK Site Lead – Chief Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring manufacturing processes are mature, capable, and ready to support production across the full product lifecycle.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a newly created role within Collins Aerospace and be part of the ASG Centre of Excellence, a highly skilled team of technical innovators developing next‑generation technologies to shape the future of aerospace nacelle actuation.

What You Will Do
  • Identify, advocate, and mature manufacturing processes for components used in aerospace actuation equipment and mechanical component manufacturing.
  • Drive design for producibility, ensuring cost, quality, and manufacturability targets are achieved at production launch and throughout the full product lifecycle.
  • Apply APQP principles within the product development process, using tools such as D/PFMEA, Process Capability Studies, Control Plans, and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).
  • Partner closely with the product design function to establish and embed robust Design for Manufacture (DfM) standards.
  • Identify and mature advanced manufacturing technologies to enable differentiated product designs.
  • Execute MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) development plans to ensure production‑ready manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to assess supplier capability and alignment with preferred manufacturing approaches.
  • Support global product development activities across multiple locations, with approximately up to 20% travel.

Qualifications
  • Degree level or higher in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience in aerospace mechanical component manufacturing methods including subtractive and additive techniques, fabrication, welding, hot and cold forming, casting, material processing, assembly, testing, automation, metrology, and inspection.
  • Practical, experience‑based knowledge of deploying APQP and developing and maturing robust new manufacturing technologies in a relevant aerospace manufacturing environment.
