Raytheon UK are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Command and Staff Trainer (CAST) team. Using primarily the ABACUS computer simulation and Communication & Information Systems (CIS) you will support exercises by the British Army ranging from Battle Group to Corps level. The expanding nature of MOD training requires the evolution and integration of new and emerging systems to continuously enhance the training capability at CAST. Main duties will include: What you'll be doing:
Responsibilities
- Configure the ABACUS software for exercise use.
- Provide the MOD customer with ABACUS data for use during military exercises.
- Configuration and/or integration of individual systems to match military training requirements.
- Conduct appropriate system training to ensure the military Users are competent to conduct their exercises.
- Provide coverage, when required, to support CAST activities at relevant UK sites.
- Support the day to day and IT operations activities at the site.
- Carry out Engineering, Operational and Administrative duties associated with CAST site.
- Support remotely networked CIS Exercises at the Warminster, Sennelager and offsite locations.
- Support to the CAST activity at all sites, using primarily ABACUS/CIS/VBS3.
- Liaise with the military customer and build scenarios to fit their requirements.
- Establish consistent and measurable processes for the support & administration activity.
- Comply with configuration and control procedures.
- Attend further training when required.
- Comply with laid down company procedures.
- When required, be willing to work at night and do shift work.
- Be 'Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement'.
- Any other duties required to complete the CAST Service.
Essential Qualifications
- UK SC Security Clearance
- Good working knowledge of Windows OS, LAN Technology
- Experienced trainer
- Good knowledge of IT systems and associated support
- Good knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016
- Good knowledge of VMware
- Presentation & Training skills
- Physically fit as lifting is part of the role
- Be willing to travel internationally and nationwide at short notice
Desirable Qualifications
- Cisco routing, switching & VOIP
- Leadership of small teams
- Windows Server administration
- Fibre/Copper LAN installation & PC Repair
- Knowledge of DII, DIS & HLA
- Up-to date knowledge of battlefield terminology and doctrine
- Ex HM Forces
- A team player, also able to work unsupervised
- Understanding of ISTAR Visualisation and its applications
- Knowledge of VBS3 and associated terrain generation
- Provision of Terrain Databases, Models and Scripting within a VBS environment
