This role is designed for a technically strong cyber security or IT professional who is looking to transition into a Cyber Security Architect position over time. You will join as a Cyber Security Engineer and develop the skills, experience, and exposure needed to move into architecture, working closely with experienced security architects and engineers. We are not expecting prior architecture experience. Instead, we are looking for individuals with a solid technical foundation, strong curiosity, and the ability to think critically about how systems are designed and secured. This is a growth role with a clear pathway into security architecture.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
  • Background in roles such as: Security Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, SOC Analyst (with strong technical depth).
  • Strong understanding of Networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, segmentation), Operating systems (Windows/Linux), Identity and access management concepts, Cloud Fundamentals.
  • Exposure to security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR).
  • Strong understanding of core security principles such as: Defence in depth, Least privilege, Zero trust concepts.
  • An understanding of designing and implementing secure systems to HMG security requirements.
  • Experience managing complex technology estates, with differing risk profiles.

Desirable

  • Information Security related certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, GSEC, SSCP.
