About The Role
RTN is growing, and we are looking for a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to join our expanding ADHD service. In this role, you will be central to delivering high-quality psychiatric care across the ADHD pathway — from assessment and diagnosis to treatment and post-diagnostic support. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure clients receive safe, effective, and person-centred care, with the flexibility to shape your caseload around your specialist strengths and interests. Key Responsibilities
- ADHD Assessment & Diagnosis
- Review pre-assessment information and collateral from psychologists and NDPs.
- Conduct structured psychiatric assessments (e.g. DIVA, ACE) to confirm ADHD diagnoses.
- Participate in MDT discussions to finalise conclusions and manage complex or nuanced cases.
- Deliver clear, compassionate feedback to clients and families regarding diagnoses and treatment options.
- Medication Management & Ongoing Care
- Initiate and manage ADHD medication in line with NICE and GMC guidance.
- Offer follow-up consultations for titration, treatment review, and side-effect monitoring.
- Collaborate with ADHD prescribers and other clinicians to ensure cohesive, high-quality care.
- Document clinical rationale and decisions clearly within formulation summaries and treatment plans.
- Post-Diagnostic Support
- Provide ongoing psychiatric input for clients requiring extended support or with comorbidities.
- Contribute to integrated care planning and liaise with GPs and external professionals to ensure continuity.
- MDT Engagement & Collaboration
- Attend monthly MDT meetings to contribute psychiatric input to case discussions.
- Supervise and collaborate with psychologists, nurses, NDPs, and operational teams.
- Engage in internal CPD sessions and reflective practice discussions.
- Documentation & Governance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant records in line with GMC, CQC, and RTN standards.
- Uphold ethical and clinical standards and contribute to audits, evaluations, and service improvement initiatives.
About You
Essential
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
- Section 12 approved.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of NICE guidelines, GMC standards, and ADHD care pathways.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Compassionate, person-centred approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Organised, reliable, and committed to continuous professional development.
Desirable
- Experience working in NHS or private neurodevelopmental services.
- Experience assessing and treating ADHD across the lifespan.
- Experience prescribing and titrating ADHD medication.
- Familiarity with ADHD diagnostic tools such as DIVA, ACE, or Conners.
- Experience delivering remote psychiatric care.
- Additional training in ADHD diagnostic tools.
Additional Information:
RTN welcomes applications from Consultant Psychiatrists who are on the GMC Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry and passionate about advancing excellence in ADHD assessment and treatment. For clinicians with limited ADHD-specific experience, full training, supervision, and mentorship will be provided to ensure confidence and consistency in practice. Where additional training is required, an initially reduced salary may apply, with review and progression as competencies are achieved.
