About RTN Mental Health
At RTN Mental Health Solutions, we’re on a mission to transform the way neurodevelopmental and primary care mental health services are delivered across the UK. As a dynamic and rapidly expanding organisation, we combine clinical excellence with commercial innovation to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. From NHS partnerships to private services, we’re redefining what accessible, ethical and effective mental health support can look like — and building the financial foundations to scale it sustainably. Our values sit at the heart of everything we do: Respect at our core, transformation in our actions, nurture in our care.
The Role
We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on Finance Director to act as a statutory board director and trusted strategic partner to the CEO and executive team within a CQC-regulated mental health organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role in a fast-scaling, regulated healthcare business. You’ll build and lead a robust, future-ready finance function that supports confident decision-making, strong governance and sustainable growth — without slowing momentum. You’ll move the organisation from founder-led, month-to-month financial management to forward-looking planning, clear unit economics and disciplined investment decisions. As RTN scales toward £30m–£50m revenue, you’ll define “what good looks like” in finance: strong controls, board-level insight, audit readiness and commercial clarity. This role blends strategic depth with delivery, requiring someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves, bringing structure to ambiguity, and partnering closely with clinical and operational leaders in a patient-centred environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead long-term financial strategy, goal setting and multi-year planning
- Own forecasting, budgeting, liquidity planning and profitability modelling
- Develop robust financial plans aligned to scaling requirements and demand
- Analyse profitability at company, pathway and service-line level
- Build clear unit economics and margin views to inform operational decisions
- Evaluate new services, income streams and investment opportunities
- Deliver high-quality board packs and investor-ready reporting
- Establish strong financial controls, audit readiness and compliance
- Implement a clear finance rhythm with dashboards, KPIs and leading indicators
- Own cashflow, working capital and 13-week cashflow forecasting
- Strengthen invoicing, debtor management and scenario planning
- Translate clinical and operational drivers into financial outcomes
- Build and assess investment cases, hiring plans and ROI logic
- Advise on funding strategies including working capital, debt or investment
- Support M&A, partnerships or complementary service opportunities
- Identify and mitigate financial, operational and market risks
- Oversee company secretarial responsibilities and statutory filings
- Ensure strong governance in a regulated healthcare environment
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team
- Drive automation, systems improvement and scalable processes
- Build a finance function that enables growth, not bureaucracy
About You
- Proven senior finance leadership experience in a growing SME or scale-up
- Experience working within a CQC-regulated healthcare or clinical environment (or equivalent regulated setting), with strong governance and audit discipline
- Strong track record in financial strategy, planning, reporting and controls
- Deep expertise in cashflow, forecasting and commercial decision support
- Confident operating at board level with strong governance awareness
- Hands-on, pragmatic and delivery-focused leadership style
- Comfortable building structure in fast-moving, evolving environments
- Experience in healthcare, mental health or regulated clinical services
- Exposure to NHS contracting or blended public/private income models
- Familiarity with Right to Choose (RTC) mechanics
- Experience with fundraising, investment or acquisitions
- Background implementing finance systems, FP&A tools or BI reporting
Our Values in Action
- Respect: We listen with empathy, value lived experience and communicate with honesty and care. We celebrate individuality and practise inclusive, neuroaffirmative communication.
- Transformation: We stay curious, embrace change and turn learning into action. We take ownership, pursue excellence and build trust through transparency.
- Nurture: We create emotionally safe spaces, empower confidence and invest in people’s growth. Compassion and presence guide how we work with both colleagues and patients.
