The Role We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary diagnostic team, supporting high-quality ASD and ADHD assessments. This is a specialist clinical role within a growing, values-driven organisation. Working remotely, you will carry out comprehensive mental health and neurodevelopmental assessments, take detailed developmental histories, and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions that inform diagnostic decisions. Your work will be central to ensuring our assessments are thorough, evidence-based and person-centred, with clear clinical formulation and high-quality reports. We welcome applications from experienced clinicians with strong clinical reasoning skills, confidence in working with neurodevelopmental presentations, and a commitment to neuroaffirmative practice. Role Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessment & Diagnostic Contribution
    • Conduct comprehensive mental health and neurodevelopmental assessments for ASD and ADHD
    • Undertake structured clinical interviews and gather detailed developmental histories
    • Support ADHD assessment processes, including symptom evaluation
    • Deliver components of standardised assessment tools (e.g. ADOS-2, ADI-R, DIVA) where trained and competent
    • Apply clinical reasoning to formulate clear, evidence-based clinical impressions
    • Contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic discussions and decision-making
    • Ensure assessments align with current NICE guidance and professional standards
  • Clinical Documentation & Reporting
    • Produce high-quality, structured clinical reports suitable for diagnostic decision-making
    • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC and organisational standards
    • Ensure documentation is neuroaffirmative, accessible and evidence-based
    • Support robust clinical governance, audit and quality standards
  • Patient Experience & Post-Diagnostic Support
    • Provide compassionate, person-centred care throughout the assessment process
    • Deliver clear psychoeducation regarding ASD and ADHD
    • Participate in feedback discussions where appropriate
    • Promote strengths-based, neuroaffirmative communication
    • Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration
    • Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists and other MDT members
    • Contribute meaningfully to shared formulation and diagnostic decisions
    • Communicate professionally within a fully remote team
    • Support junior colleagues as the service grows
  • Service Development & Quality Improvement
    • Contribute to service development initiatives
    • Engage in audit, reflective practice and quality improvement activities
    • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, patient experience and clinical standards
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practice in neurodevelopmental assessment
  • Professional Practice
    • Maintain active NMC registration and adhere to the NMC Code
    • Engage in supervision and CPD
    • Work autonomously within scope of practice
    • Maintain confidentiality and information governance standards in a remote environment

About You

  • Essential
    • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration
    • Experience working with individuals with ASD and/or ADHD
    • Experience conducting structured mental health and risk assessments
    • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary assessments
    • Strong clinical reasoning and formulation skills
    • Excellent report-writing and documentation skills
    • Knowledge of ASD and ADHD presentations, including masking and co-occurring conditions
    • Knowledge of relevant NICE guidance
    • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and compassionately
    • Confident working autonomously in a remote setting
  • Desirable
    • Experience contributing directly to neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments
    • Training in ADOS-2, ADI-R, DIVA assessment training
    • Experience delivering remote assessments
    • Experience in independent/private healthcare settings
    • Postgraduate training in neurodevelopmental conditions
    • Understanding of trauma-informed approaches
