We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a school retrofit project for a reputable M&E contractor. The successful candidate will have a strong background supervising mechanical building services works on refurbishment and retrofit projects, ideally within live or occupied environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all mechanical installation works on site
- Manage subcontractors and direct labour across mechanical packages
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
- Monitor quality, progress, and compliance with drawings and standards
- Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings
- Liaise with project management, engineers, and other trades
- Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations and site procedures
- Assist with inspections, snagging, testing, and commissioning activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on retrofit or refurbishment projects
- Experience working on school or education sector projects (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, LTHW/CHW)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong focus on health & safety and quality control
- Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent)
- SSSTS or SMSTS (required)
- CSCS card (Supervisor or Gold Card preferred)
