We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to support the delivery of major HV transmission projects across the North West, working on behalf of a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering works for National Grid. This is a critical, site-based position where you will take full responsibility for the safe control, operation, and isolation of high-voltage systems on live infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out HV switching operations in line with approved procedures
- Issue safety documents, permits, and oversee isolations
- Ensure safe energisation and de-energisation of plant and equipment
- Act as the Authorising Engineer on site for all electrical safety matters
- Work closely with commissioning teams during testing and handover phases
- Ensure full compliance with National Grid safety rules and project requirements
Requirements:
- Current or recent SAP authorisation (National Grid or relevant DNO)
- Extensive experience working on HV transmission or substation projects (132kV+)
- Strong working knowledge of switching procedures and safety documentation
- Proven ability to operate safely in live HV environments
Desirable:
- Experience supporting commissioning activities on large infrastructure projects
- Background working with Tier 1 contractors
- Additional authorisations or multi-utility exposure
