Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing Engineer to design, develop, and oversee the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems for commercial, residential, or industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building codes, system design, and fluid dynamics, and will collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and contractors to ensure efficient and compliant plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, stormwater, venting, and gas distribution.
- Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and technical specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Ensure all plumbing systems comply with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations (e.g., IPC, UPC, NFPA).
- Collaborate with project teams during the design and construction phases to provide technical support and resolve issues.
- Conduct site visits to monitor installation, testing, and commissioning of plumbing systems.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and select appropriate materials and equipment (pumps, piping, valves, fixtures, etc.).
- Coordinate plumbing layouts with other MEP disciplines to avoid clashes and optimize system efficiency.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
- Participate in cost estimation, feasibility studies, and project scheduling.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.
- 3–7 years of relevant plumbing system design experience.
- Proficient in plumbing codes and standards (e.g., IPC, ASPE, NFPA, ASHRAE).
- Strong CAD and BIM skills (AutoCAD, Revit MEP preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
- LEED accreditation or sustainability knowledge.
- Experience with healthcare, high-rise, or laboratory facility plumbing systems.
