Assistant Project Manager / Health & Safety Officer Location: Newport, South Wales Start Date: Immediate Start Available Employment Type: Full-Time (Contract or Permanent Considered) Our client, a specialist Groundworks and Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager or Health & Safety Officer to join the team on a major project in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong understanding of construction health and safety, site compliance, and project support within the groundworks and civils sector. Key Responsibilities * Managing and updating RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) * Conducting site inductions for all personnel and visitors * Monitoring and maintaining site safety compliance * Ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and current HSE legislation * Carrying out site inspections and safety audits * Assisting site management with project documentation and reporting * Supporting subcontractor management and compliance checks * Maintaining health and safety records and documentation * Promoting a positive safety culture across the project Requirements * Previous experience within Groundworks, Civil Engineering, or Construction environments * NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred) * Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and site compliance requirements * Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS * Excellent communication and organisational skills * Ability to work independently and proactively on a busy construction site * Full UK Driving Licence preferred What We Offer * Immediate start * Competitive salary/package depending on experience * Opportunity to work with a well-established specialist groundworks and civils contractor * Long-term career progression opportunities To apply, please send your CV and a brief cover note outlining your relevant experience
