We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support a major earthworks package on a key infrastructure project based in Newcastle. This is a long-term 12-month contract with an immediate requirement for a start on 5 January.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will lead engineering activities across a complex earthworks scope, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required technical standards. You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and project management to drive progress and maintain quality throughout the construction cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all engineering aspects of the earthworks package
  • Produce and review method statements, risk assessments, and quality documentation
  • Ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements
  • Monitor site progress, resolving technical issues and supporting delivery teams
  • Liaise with stakeholders, design teams, and subcontractors
  • Provide accurate setting-out and verification of works
  • Support reporting, programme updates, and forecasting

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on earthworks or large civil engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks techniques, QA processes, and site management
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering software and surveying equipment
  • CSCS card and appropriate engineering qualifications
  • Ability to lead, coordinate, and communicate effectively across teams
