We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join a school retrofit project for a reputable M&E contractor. The successful candidate will have a strong background supervising mechanical building services works on refurbishment and retrofit projects, ideally within live or occupied environments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all mechanical installation works on site
  • Manage subcontractors and direct labour across mechanical packages
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
  • Monitor quality, progress, and compliance with drawings and standards
  • Conduct toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings
  • Liaise with project management, engineers, and other trades
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations and site procedures
  • Assist with inspections, snagging, testing, and commissioning activities

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on retrofit or refurbishment projects
  • Experience working on school or education sector projects (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, LTHW/CHW)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong focus on health & safety and quality control
  • Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • SSSTS or SMSTS (required)
  • CSCS card (Supervisor or Gold Card preferred)
