We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a major substation project on a freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile energy infrastructure project with competitive rates and long-term prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical components within substations
- Working on high-voltage equipment including switchgear and associated systems
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Carrying out inspections, testing, and fault finding
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety, and quality standards
Essential Requirements:
- Valid NG Persons certification (National Grid)
- Proven experience working on substation or similar high-voltage projects
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering)
- CSCS or ECS card
- Strong understanding of site safety procedures and permit-to-work systems
Desirable Certifications:
- National Grid BESC (Basic Electrical Safety Competence)
- National Grid Competent Person / Authorised Person
- IPAF / PASMA
- Manual Handling
