We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support a long–term roads and civil engineering programme across Ayrshire. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well–established civil engineering contractor delivering highways, drainage and infrastructure works on a secure, long–term framework.
The Role
As Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with company procedures, legislation and best practice within the roads and civils sector. You will work closely with site teams, management and subcontractors, providing practical, hands–on support to ensure health and safety standards are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a positive health & safety culture across all sites
- Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments
- Support site teams with RAMS, permits and safe systems of work
- Provide advice and guidance on H&S legislation and best practice
- Investigate incidents, near misses and implement corrective actions
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and safety training
- Liaise with clients, local authorities and enforcing bodies when required
About You
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within roads and civil engineering
- Strong understanding of highways, utilities, drainage or infrastructure works
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential)
- CSCS card (minimum)
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Confident communicator with a practical, site–based approach
- Ability to work independently across multiple live sites
