As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a hands-on technical role supporting the design and delivery of integrated renewable energy systems. These include radiant heating and cooling, mechanical ventilation, solar solutions, and smart controls.

This position is ideal for a motivated MEng or MSc graduate with 1–2 years of experience who is looking to build a career in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector. You will contribute to a variety of technical activities, including producing CAD drawings, developing panel layouts, and performing key calculations such as heat load, airflow, and solar consumption analysis. Your work will directly support the wider design and quotation process.

You will collaborate closely with installers across the UK, ensuring they clearly understand system designs and product specifications. Reporting to the Technical Director and supported by the Head of Design, you will receive ongoing guidance as you develop your technical expertise and industry knowledge. This role will involve working across projects for both organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Analysis and Development
    • Review project specifications and drawings to understand technical requirements and system scope.
    • Produce accurate CAD drawings, technical schematics, and panel layouts across all product areas, in line with specifications provided by the Head of Design.
  • Technical Calculations and Quotation Support
    • Perform technical calculations, including:
      • Heat load and system sizing for radiant systems
      • Airflow and ventilation design calculations
      • Solar consumption and generation estimates
      • Control logic inputs for smart systems
    • Support the quotation process by providing accurate technical outputs and product specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and refine calculation templates and design standards to improve consistency and accuracy.
    • Review internal reports to identify opportunities for improving processes and workflows.
  • Customer Engagement
    • Work with clients and project stakeholders to respond to technical queries and clarify system designs and cost estimates.
    • Participate in meetings and presentations when required.
    • Build and maintain strong professional relationships, representing the organisation with integrity and professionalism.
  • Industry Knowledge and Development
    • Develop a strong understanding of all product areas and how integrated systems operate together.
    • Undertake structured training, particularly in radiant heating and cooling systems, to confidently design and specify solutions for installers.
Qualifications and Skills
  • MEng or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Strong academic foundation in mechanical design principles
  • Interest in renewable energy systems (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
