Site Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Site Engineer to join our delivery team on water infrastructure projects.

Working alongside the Site Agent and Project Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of civil engineering works, ensuring projects are constructed safely, accurately, and in accordance with design, programme, and quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong civil engineering background who enjoys working on technically challenging projects within the water sector.

You will be responsible for setting out works, maintaining quality standards, supporting site operations, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Site Engineer Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out setting out and surveying activities using GPS, Total Station, and other surveying equipment.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and delivery of day to day construction activities.
  • Produce and maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, inspection records, quality documentation, and as built information.
  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure works comply with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), permits, and inspection and test plans (ITPs).
  • Monitor construction progress and identify potential issues, escalating where necessary to maintain programme.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, suppliers, designers, and the wider project team to ensure efficient delivery of works.
  • Assist in managing temporary works, ensuring compliance with approved designs and procedures.
  • Support the commercial team by recording variations, maintaining accurate records, and providing information for valuations and compensation events.
  • Promote a positive health, safety, environmental, and quality culture through regular site inspections and proactive engagement.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and statutory regulations.
  • Site Engineer Experience

The successful candidate will have

  • A strong civil engineering background with experience working as a Site Engineer within the water or civil engineering sector.
  • Experience delivering projects involving one or more of the following: clean water infrastructure, wastewater infrastructure, pipelines and rising mains, pumping stations, water or wastewater treatment works
  • Experience in setting out, surveying, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete, drainage, earthworks, utilities, and structural construction.
  • Experience producing quality records, inspections, and as built documentation.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics.
  • A commitment to delivering projects safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
