Role Summary

The Account Manager (Events) acts as the main liaison between clients and the company, managing event accounts from planning through delivery.

This role requires excellent relationship management, project management, and financial oversight skills.

Collaboration and transparent communication are key to working effectively within our family run business.

The role may require weekend and some unsociable hours during key events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, proactive communication throughout event lifecycles.
  • Manage all client account activities including tendering, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Monitor project progress and financial performance, ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Assist Account Managers with various administrative tasks.
  • Project Ownership & Delivery
  • Lead the full lifecycle of projects from initial concept through to onsite delivery and debrief.
  • Attend site meetings, taking briefs from clients, providing proposals, quotes, briefing in artwork, ordering print, scheduling crew, quality assurance of brand installations, and creating photographic references of jobs.
  • Financial and Contract Administration
  • Oversee timely issuance and validation of invoices and billing cycles.
  • Support tender processes and contract negotiations in collaboration with project teams.
  • Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure seamless communication and event execution.
  • Assist management and the CEO with recruitment needs and team development related to client projects.
  • Continuous Client Service Improvement
  • Identify and propose opportunities to enhance service delivery, client satisfaction, and commercial growth.
  • Manage existing client accounts and build long-term, trusted partnerships.
  • Understand client goals and proactively identify opportunities.
  • Manage a large volume of email and phone enquiries daily.
  • Ensure contracts and invoices are issued accurately.
  • Maintain contact to ensure repeat business and identify upsell opportunities.
  • Carry out regular site visits to understand your client’s requirements.
  • Arrange and attend meetings to generate new business and manage relationships.
  • Ensure that customers receive the best possible service at all times.
  • Ensure complaints are handled in line with company procedures.
  • Prepare accurate quotes and schedules utilising our bespoke CRM system and excel.
  • Ensure all project information is communicated to all team members.
  • Update client records ensuring current information is available at all times.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the clients’ needs and manage them through to delivery.
  • Obtain client feedback after each event and report to senior management.
  • Attend relevant trade exhibitions, networking events and training.
  • Work closely with the CEO, Account Managers, and Event Crew to ensure that the links between the Account Management and Scheduling teams are strong, ensuring both client and staff needs are met.

  • Weekend availability required during event peaks, with time off in lieu to compensate overtime.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the UK for events with the rare occasion for overnight stays.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Experience managing client accounts, ideally in events or publicity sectors.
  • Strong financial acumen and contract administration skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to write and speak in an engaging way and can explain your thoughts and ideas succinctly.
  • Highly organised and able to multi-task, works well under pressure and ability to adapt to quick changes.
  • Computer literate as well as technologically savvy with various software and social media platforms.
  • Happy to travel around the UK to racecourse sites and other venues.
  • Ability to work flexible hours especially during event season.
  • Great team player with a sense of humour.
  • Ability to identify problems potential risks and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a small business environment.
  • Familiarity with CRM, invoicing, and project tracking tools.
  • Preferable Additions
  • H&S qualifications (e. g. First Aid, SSSTS)
  • Previous experience in sporting events, horseracing, signage, and branding industries.

  • You have proven event experience with a track record of high attention to detail and organisational skills, staying focused on the task at hand ensuring nothing is missed.

  • You have the ability to collaborate across disciplines, departments, and client’s additional agency partners.
  • You are a focused and performance driven individual, who can think on their feet, use initiative and be comfortable working in a global environment, under pressure, and to tight deadlines but within a team environment.
  • You proactively take on initiatives and drive projects from conception to completion.
  • You enjoy solving problems and finding creative solutions to difficult challenges.
  • A desire and flexibility to travel within the UK to events throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • At least 3+ years associated industry experience.
  • Expert knowledge of project management fundamentals.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Prove account management skills to create, maintain and enhance client relationships.
  • Routine manual handling responsibilities, including lifting, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move office equipment or stock weighing up to 10kg to load vans and shelves.
