Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker with a passion for supporting looked after children and young people?

We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate LAC Social Worker to join a children's services team, supporting children and young people who are looked after by the local authority to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.

The Role

You will work with looked after children and young people, ensuring their needs are assessed and that they receive the right support, care and opportunities to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of looked after children and young people.
  • Completing assessments and regular statutory visits.
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing care plans.
  • Ensuring children are receiving appropriate care and support.
  • Monitoring children's placements and responding to any concerns.
  • Working closely with foster carers, residential providers, parents and wider family members.
  • Organising and attending Looked After Children reviews.
  • Supporting permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship and adoption where appropriate.
  • Undertaking direct work with children and young people.
  • Ensuring the child's wishes, feelings and voice remain central to decision-making.
  • Working closely with education, health, placement providers and other professionals.
  • Identifying and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and reports.

About You

We are looking for a Social Worker who:

  • Holds a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Is registered with Social Work England.
  • Has experience working with Looked After Children.
  • Has a good understanding of children's social care, safeguarding and care planning.
  • Has experience completing statutory visits and reviews.
  • Understands the importance of permanence planning and placement stability.
  • Is confident working with children, young people, foster carers and families.
  • Has excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Can manage a varied and potentially complex caseload.
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for looked after children.

DfE Requirements

Candidates must meet the relevant Department for Education (DfE) requirements for the role, including the required social work qualification, professional registration and relevant experience.
