RSS are currently looking for a Civils biased Setting Out Engineer to work on a significant Infrastructure project in Birmingham.

The work will have a blend of heavy civils, structures and highways elements.

This is a freelance position with a potential duration of two years for the right candidate.

Responsibilities to include

  • Dealing with design issues
  • Dealing with technical/design queries
  • Liaising with others to ensure safe systems of work are implemented
  • Monitoring the construction of works and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Offering technical advice on a construction the project for subcontractors, Managers and trades
  • Managing the site and parts of construction projects from drawings
  • Overseeing building work and ensuring the quality of the work meet the technical specifications
  • Occasional setting out, levelling and surveying the site using Total Station
  • Ensuring the plans, drawings and quantities are accurate for calculations
  • Managing the design documents supplied by the client
  • Reporting progress and other updates back to management team
  • Planning the work efficiently and adapting to changes in designs
  • Candidates must also have knowledge of complimentary Infrastructure, highways work, heavy civils and concrete structures and groundwork and drainage etc.
  • Candidates must be competent and able to use the

Trimble kit with GPS and SPS930.

Candidates must have the following

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years experience as a Setting Out engineer (Civils)
  • HND / B'Eng Civil Engineering (or associated Degree)
  • Some form of Highways experience, i. e. kerbs and drainage.
  • CSCS card (Preferable)
  • SSSTS or SMSTS (desirable)
  • Handback ticket (nice to have)
  • two checkable references
