We\’re looking for a Veterinary Care Assistant to join our veterinary team at our Greater Manchester Animal Hospital on a full-time, permanent basis, reporting to one of our Nursing Team Leaders.
- Working hours: 35 hours on a 24-hour rotating shift basis including evenings and weekends.
- On-site: Your base will be at Greater Manchester Animal Hospital

Our fabulous Veterinary Care Assistants are essential for the smooth running of the hospital.
You will start with a specific area and patients to care for, which may have complex or straightforward needs. Your duties include keeping animals clean, administering medications, updating records, and being alert to concerns. You might also assist with surgical cases, preparing animals for surgery, or ensuring instruments are ready for use.
No two days are the same. New animals are brought in daily, and they are moved along their journey from rescue to rehome. Good communication skills are vital to liaise with our front-line colleagues. The role can be emotionally demanding, but the rewards of successful outcomes and making a difference are immense.
You will be part of a large team with opportunities to develop your skills in animal care.
Veterinary Care Assistants are proactive and collaborative, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and biosecurity on a 24-hour rota.

- Previous experience in veterinary care
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- An NVQ Level 2 in Animal Care or equivalent (e.g., VCA, ANA) is desirable
