We\’re excited to offer a permanent opportunity for a Rehoming Coordinator to join our small, supportive, and friendly team at Friern Barnet.
Working pattern & location
- 35 hours per week, on a variable rota – Includes weekends and bank holidays
- Opening hours: Mon–Sat 09:00–18:00; Sun 09:00–17:00
- Site-based at Pets at Home Friern Barnet, with some travel to foster homes, hospitals and other centres
- Use of RSPCA fleet vehicles. A full UK manual driving licence with proven driving experience is essential as our vehicles are manual

You\’ll be doing
- Provide a safe, calm and nurturing environment for cats at the centre
- Ensure their physical, emotional and behavioural needs are met
- Work closely with adopters and fosterers, carrying out checks and matching each cat with the most suitable home
- Support cats through recovery, rehabilitation and rehoming journeys
A significant part of the role is administration-based, and there will be periods of lone working. You\’ll also travel regularly to visit fosterers, veterinary hospitals and other centres. This work can be physically and emotionally demanding, but it is also incredibly rewarding knowing your care directly changes lives.
Key responsibilities
- Providing daily care for animals housed in the RSPCA rehoming unit
- Engaging with the public via phone, email and in person
- Promoting animals available for adoption in-store and on social media
- Coordinating and supporting a network of foster carers
- Arranging and facilitating veterinary care, including transport to and from hospital
As part of your training, you must complete an on-road driving assessment conducted by a professional driver training provider.
Essential
- A full UK manual driving licence
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Compassion and empathy, paired with clear and confident communication
- Ability to work independently within established guidelines
- Confidence conducting home visits and engaging with people in their own environments
- Skill in handling sensitive or difficult conversations with professionalism and care
- Basic computer literacy and administrative skills
Desirable
- Experience working with domestic animals through volunteering, education or employment
