Location – Hessle and/or Holderness Road Shop (occasional cover at the other two shops in Beverley or Cottingham)
Wage – £12.21 per hour
Hours – Part Time – 12/14 hours per week (worked over 2 days)

About the Role
We are looking for two motivated and people-focused Shop Supervisors to support the day-to-day running of our charity shops across Hull & East Riding. Reporting to the Multi-Site Retail Manager, you will play a key role in maximising shop income, leading and supporting volunteers, and ensuring our shops are welcoming, well-presented, and compliant with all relevant policies and legislation. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with retail supervisory experience who is passionate about customer service, community impact, and animal welfare.
- Work towards agreed income and profit targets by maximising sales and controlling costs
- Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring every customer feels valued and welcomed
- Promote the charity’s work and engage positively with the local and online community
- Support and deliver sales promotions and fundraising initiatives
- Maximise Gift Aid income at every opportunity
- Ensure shops operate strictly within agreed trading hours
Shop Standards
- Maintain high standards of shop and window presentation
- Use selling space effectively to optimise sales
- Ensure excellent housekeeping, cleanliness, and organisation
- Encourage donations of good-quality, saleable stock
- Support stock rotation, pricing, and display in line with Branch guidelines
- Recruit, train, support, and motivate a team of volunteers
- Organise weekly volunteer rotas to ensure smooth shop operations
- Ensure volunteers follow Branch policies and procedures
- Communicate clearly and positively, promoting our vision and values
Administration, Security & Compliance
- Complete all required administration accurately and on time
- Follow Branch financial, cash handling, and security procedures
- Hold shop keys when required and ensure premises are secure
- Report any concerns around theft or dishonesty to management
Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe environment for volunteers, staff, and customers
- Implement Health & Safety policies and risk assessments
- Support delivery of Health & Safety training as required
About You
- Experience supervising a team in a retail environment
- Confidence in managing challenging situations
- Basic knowledge of cash handling and stock management
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office
- Experience in charity retail
- Understanding of Gift Aid processes
