Location: Unit 1 High Barns Farm, Bedford Road, Roxton, Bedfordshire, MK44 3ET
Position duration: Starting salary is £42k, increasing to £44k after successfully passing probation. Permanent, Monday – Friday 7am – 5.30pm with an unpaid 30min break. Engineers are being paid door to door.
Job Summary: Working within the customer services division, the service engineer will be responsible for performing servicing, fault diagnostic and rectification tasks on Suction Excavators.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Planned maintenance
- Fault diagnostics (via remote monitoring and liaising with operators)
- Strong electrical diagnostic skills
- Experienced working on PLC controlled systems
- Ability to be able to work on own initiative
- Fault rectification and record keeping
- Remedial works
- Service and repair of remote-control systems
- Research and development tasks
- Working at our customer’s sites and in-house
- Maintain vehicle, tools and equipment in a safe, clean and functional condition
- Ensure all areas of work are maintained in a safe and tidy condition by practicing good housekeeping.
- Complete written and computer-based reports.
- Comply with all aspects of the company policies and follow published procedures where applicable.
- Maintain a culture of best practice within the division by attending training courses, both internal and external when and where required.
- Working as part of a team nationwide, self-motivation and team working are essential. This role involves a high proportion of working alone as well as supporting and being supported by the company’s existing team of engineers and managers.
- Flexibility within this role is paramount, with the ability to adopt working hours to accommodate priorities and/or business requirements. This will involve working throughout the UK with nights away from time to time and attending occasional training courses in Germany.
- Support and contribute towards continuous improvement
- Communicate and collaborate closely with all RSP-UK teams in terms of contractual requirements so that customer expectations are met
- Contribute and support to ensure compliance to ISO9001/14001/45001 and FORS
Qualifications Skills and Attributes Required:
- At least 3 years’ demonstrable experience working within the service industry in mechanical and electrical disciplines ideally with hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
- Experience in fault-finding and repair of electrical control circuits/PLC’s is a must.
- A recognised formal apprenticeship in addition to City and Guilds or similar qualification.
- To always work safely and in accordance with the company’s health and safety procedures. Precautions should be taken as necessary when visiting sites, adopting the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Overtime will also be payable when available.
