Position duration & Salary details: Permanent, Full Time £50,000 – £60,000 p.a. (DOE) plus benefits such as private health, life cover, pension. Standard hours 8.30am – 5:00pm, 40‑hour week Monday to Friday. One day per week home working considered following successful completion of probationary period.

Job Summary: We are seeking a pro‑active, highly organised and hands‑on individual to join our growing finance department. This is a pivotal role for an individual who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys a mix of high‑level financial reporting and day‑to‑day operational tasks and involvement. The successful candidate will be expected to dive into the detail to fully understand the key drivers and subtleties of the business. Building from this knowledge, you will take the lead on delivering the month‑end process, ensuring management accounts are produced to a high standard and ready for management review within tight group reporting deadlines. Beyond the month‑end cycle, you will also play a key role managing day‑to‑day finance activities, including the line management of one direct report. This role will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager, as well as the wider Finance team, to produce insightful and timely departmental and management information to assist with strategic decision‑making.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform daily, weekly and monthly activities to support day‑to‑day and periodic business needs
  • Play lead role in delivering the Month‑End closing process, including preparation / reconciliation of fixed assets, accruals (incl. revenue recognition), prepayments etc.
  • Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts
  • Produce quality management reporting and analysis to help support operational and strategic decision‑making
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors to ensure compliance with statutory and tax reporting requirements
  • Work with operational team colleagues to plan and execute periodic stock counts
  • Continually evaluate and monitor suitability of existing financial tools, systems and processes. Recommend and deliver process improvements where appropriate
  • Undertake ad‑hoc projects as required within the finance team and wider business

Effective communication with colleagues (Finance and non‑Finance) at all levels within the organisation is key to succeeding in the role. Comply with all aspects of the company policies and follow published procedures where applicable. Maintain a culture of best practice within the company by attending training courses, both internal and external when and where required.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes Required:

  • Role would suit qualified or qualified‑by‑experience (QBE) candidate looking to develop in a hands‑on but influential role
  • Confidently able to communicate with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers at all levels of seniority
  • Experience of working as a Senior Management Accountant, Finance Manager or similar role
  • IT competent, incl. Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage 200 (desirable)
