Consulting brings together multiple teams across Transactions, Risk & Consulting, ABA, and Outsourcing to provide client-centric solutions for RSM's current and future clients within the middle market. Overall job purpose: An exciting opportunity to develop a breadth of commercial skills and experience across advisory and formal members voluntary liquidation assignments with the Restructuring National Members Voluntary Liquidation team. You will assist in the delivery of orderly wind downs, corporate reorganisation assignments and work on members voluntary liquidation appointments across a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring that clients and other interested parties receive a quality service in all respects.

Responsibilities:

  • To complete assignments in accordance with the Firm's standard procedures and where relevant statutory obligations, and to confirm arrangements with the client, company, or appointer, including likely costs and billing arrangements.
  • To work closely alongside other team members to plan and execute assignments, and potentially manage appropriate cases as required, in accordance with the Firm's standard procedures and relevant statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Working with the National MVL team to provide training and support to junior staff within the team.
  • Progression of a Members Voluntary Liquidation from commencement to closure.
  • Assisting with the completion of and seeking approval of engagement letters and ancillary documents.
  • Completion of KPI's for Manager and Partner approval.
  • Ensuring assigned diary lines are completed within the deadline.
  • Inputting data onto the internal systems, IPS and Virtual Cabinet.
  • General case administration including raising bills.
  • Members Voluntary Liquidation experience preferred with further opportunities to develop skills in this area.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills essential.

Understanding the challenges currently being faced by the client and developing solutions alongside the Partner/ Director and other RSM staff:

  • Dealing with pre-appointment matters on Members Voluntary Liquidations and pre appointment advisory work.
  • Attendance at initial meetings on site with the client and other RA staff.
  • Communicating information required from the client.
  • Analysing and challenging information received from the client, or checking back to source documentation.
  • Providing practical advice to the client on orderly wind down scenarios.
  • Working alongside other RSM service lines on group reorganisation projects.
  • To assist with client take on procedures and timely completion of CEAP.
  • To ensure that the job is completed within budget, and to discuss all materials points arising with the assignment partner and client or appointer as these arise, particularly in relation to any anticipated overruns, or significant changes in likely outcome.
  • To liaise with the shareholders, directors and other interested parties throughout any assignment as required and to practise the principles of excellent client service at all times.
  • To ensure that appropriate liaison takes place with all other departments.
  • To monitor the profitability and recoverability of work in progress and to bill clients on a timely basis.
  • To assist in marketing activities as required/available.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Maintain an awareness and observation of Health and Safety issues within the Firm, and report any concerns to the Health and Safety Representative.
  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the role and its grading, as requested by the Line Manager or Head of Department.

Personal and professional qualities:

  • Previous experience in client handling.
  • Experience in Restructuring Advisory and / or Insolvency in a similar role and CPI qualified would be an advantage, but not a pre-requisite as full training will be given.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills and able to demonstrate a strong commercial outlook.
  • Proven communication skills due to internal and external client contact.
  • Commitment to high quality delivery within agreed timeframes.
  • Interest in promoting the national service line both internally and externally.
