Make an impact within our VAT team at RSM UK. Our VAT specialists work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a joined‑up service to a diverse range of clients, from mid‑market businesses to large corporations, combining expertise in accounting, audit and all relevant taxes. As a national VAT practice, we provide the freedom to find the right balance between sector specialism and general advisory, as well as an opportunity to initiate and develop new areas of focus for the team.

As an Assistant Manager or Manager in our London office, you will manage and control VAT client work including advisory projects and the review of VAT returns. You will undertake detailed planning and implementation of VAT work, ensuring the provision of an effective and cost‑driven service to clients in line with budgets. Together with Partners, you will manage the interface between a group of clients and the firm to ensure that the agreed expectations of the clients in terms of service, quality and cost and the firm’s targets are met.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Identifying and advising on VAT planning opportunities and undertaking specialist technical assignments.
  • Identifying, interviewing and converting prospective clients and assisting other departments in the research and preparation of formal proposals for new work.
  • Being the principal point of contact for clients on VAT queries and working closely with partners, directors and associate directors to manage a client portfolio.
  • Developing an advanced level of technical knowledge through personal development opportunities.
  • Working in collaboration across service lines to proactively seek opportunities to generate new business in the region.

What we are looking for:

  • Ambition to progress to senior management or director / partner level.
  • CTA qualified or qualified via experience.
  • An interest or aptitude for business development.
  • Proven experience in client handling and project management.
  • Proven tax experience in producing high‑quality work within budget.
  • Proven indirect tax experience and effective team leadership skills.
