RSM’s Washington National Tax (WNT) team is an experience-based group of distinguished tax professionals who track tax developments directly from the sources and immediately translate the information into how these changes impact our clients. With resources across the country and a physical presence in Washington, D.C., our team stays up to date on the latest developments in tax policy and tax developments. Team members share their analysis of potential implications of new tax laws, Treasury regulations and IRS pronouncements through a regular cadence of articles, webcasts and newsletters and working closely with our engagement teams and clients.
We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our expanding tax practice in Federal Credits & Incentives with a focus specifically on research and development. This role provides an opportunity to join a high-performing tax practice. As a Tax Manager, you will use your expertise in taxation to provide compliance and consulting services needed in RSM's growing Washington National Tax office. The Washington National Tax office consults with the broad spectrum of RSM's tax clients on a full range of tax technical areas. We are currently seeking candidates who have extensive subject matter expertise in Federal Tax Credits & Incentives to join our growing credits, incentives and methods team. Strong legal research and writing skills are a must. Experience and expertise in research and development expenditures and credits is highly desirable. Experience in tax controversy is a plus.
Responsibilities- Consulting with clients and client engagement teams
- Generating thought leadership alerts articles and other content
- Liaising with Treasury, IRS and Capitol Hill, with a focus on monitoring developments
- 5-7 years continuous recent public accounting experience
- Experience working for a Big 4 or large national, regional or local accounting firm
- CPA license or JD required
- Experience focusing on federal tax credits, especially R&D credit
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information and tax laws
- Strong research and technical writing skills
- Proficient use of technology, including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, BNA, etc.
- Liaising with Treasury, IRS and Capitol Hill, with a focus on monitoring developments
- Leading internal knowledge sharing, including the development and delivery of training
- Developing client service offerings and tools
- Ensuring a focus on tax quality and client service excellence
