As a Tax Dispute Resolution Manager in our Manchester office, you will work with businesses and individuals as well as HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in resolving issues relating to tax disputes and enquiries. You will combine technical expertise with expert knowledge and experience to obtain successful outcomes to our client’s interactions with HMRC.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Managing relationships with a portfolio of clients and acting as the main point of contact.
  • Delivering a high-quality Tax Dispute Resolution Service to our clients, in collaboration with your colleagues, and addressing any queries relating to client engagements from other RSM teams.
  • Working closely with your colleagues to deliver clear and concise solutions to a range of administrative and analytical issues relevant to client’s HMRC enquiries and interventions, whilst adhering to the Firm’s quality standards.
  • Collaborating with Partners, Directors and Associate Directors in business development activities.
  • Being a positive influence on junior members of staff and taking an active role in their development.

  • CTA or ATII qualified, or equivalent, ideally along with an accounting qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
  • Ideally, experience in communicating (written and verbal) with HMRC is preferred, however this is not essential.
  • Proven experience in client handling and managing a busy portfolio, including managing multiple deadlines and delegation.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop junior team members.
  • Strong analytical and computational skills.
  • Strong letter and report writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Ability and confidence to liaise with both internal and external clients.
