As a Finance Function Support Supervisor, you’ll act as an extension of our client’s finance team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing bookkeeping, reconciliations, and preparation of periodic management reports and VAT returns.
- Advising on finance function applications and supporting the implementation of new systems and technology solutions.
- Providing on-site or virtual support where clients have a temporary need for additional accounting resources.
- Maintaining regular communication with client principals, hosting in-person meetings (particularly for London-based clients), and building strong, long-term partnerships.
- Supporting the preparation and filing of statutory accounts (FRS 102 / IFRS) and electronic tagging.
- Acting as the main point of contact for auditors during the year-end compliance cycle and responding to audit queries.
- Supporting the working capital requirements of your RSM client portfolio by preparing cost analysis, drafting bills and monitoring debtors.
- Contributing to client pitch meetings, presenting insights and supporting fee proposals through data analysis and benchmarking.
You’ll report to the team’s management and director group, with active involvement in wider team initiatives and training programmes. You will also:
- Supervise and coach Assistants, reviewing their work and supporting their technical and professional growth.
- Contribute to team development, working with management to help drive continuous improvement and encourage a culture of learning and collaboration.

- ACA / ACCA part-qualified (with no more than five exams remaining). Those fully qualified may be considered for an Assistant Manager role.
- Experience within professional practice, ideally in a finance function support, management accounting, or outsourcing environment for a minimum of three years.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP and/or IFRS, with sound general technical knowledge.
- Strong understanding of core VAT concepts and experience in preparing and filing VAT returns.
- Strong supervisory skills, with experience leading and reviewing the work of junior team members, particularly around bank reconciliations, bookkeeping and ledger management, and the accurate execution of payments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in client interaction and relationship management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software, with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and technology.
- Has a strong interest in developing specialist knowledge within the Private Equity or Real Estate sectors, with a long-term ambition to build a career delivering finance function support and business partnering services to clients in these industries.
- Knowledge of Xero, NetSuite, CCH or similar professional accounts preparation packages.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts under FRS102 or IFRS, including drafting financial statements, technical accounting notes, and accounting policy disclosures - this experience is beneficial but not a prerequisite, as the role provides opportunities to develop these skills.
- Familiarity with the audit processes, including preparing audit files and responding to auditor queries.
- Experience supporting or leading on complex accounting projects such as IFRS transitions, adoption of updated FRS 102 standards, acquisition accounting, or group consolidations.
- Awareness of international GAAP and accounting considerations arising from multi-entity or group structures.
