Join RSM UK as a Director within our Global VAT Compliance & Reporting (GVCR) team and take ownership of a strategically important function delivering complex VAT compliance, e‐invoicing, and reporting solutions across the UK, EU, and global markets.
This is a high‐impact leadership role with responsibility for driving operational excellence, scaling delivery capability, enhancing client experience, and influencing the future direction of our managed compliance services. You will work at the centre of a fast‐evolving international tax and regulatory landscape, partnering with senior internal and external stakeholders across tax, technology, operations, and client leadership teams.
You will lead the Project Management function responsible for the end‐to‐end lifecycle of global client engagements. From commercial handover and onboarding through to ongoing compliance delivery and transformation initiatives. You will own the strategic oversight of client delivery operations, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.
You will act as the senior point of accountability for delivery governance, client satisfaction, operational performance, and team leadership. This role requires a commercially minded leader with strong programme management capability, the ability to drive cross‐functional collaboration at scale, and the confidence to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
You will make an impact by:
- Leading our project management function as a director, responsible for a team of dedicated project managers and setting the strategic direction, operating model, and delivery standards for global compliance engagements.
- Taking full ownership of the successful delivery of complex, multi‐jurisdictional VAT compliance and e‐invoicing projects across a diverse international client portfolio.
- Tracking and reporting of client deadlines, ensuring on‐time delivery and a premium service is continually delivered.
- Driving operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve processes, scalability, automation, governance, and client experience; being the primary point of contact for new client engagements and escalation point for any team issues.
- Overseeing the onboarding and implementation of new clients, ensuring effective mobilisation, risk management, resource planning, and stakeholder alignment.
- Coordinating internal teams to ensure all aspects of new client engagements are handled efficiently and effectively.
- Acting as the senior escalation point for delivery, operational, and client‐related matters, proactively managing risk and resolving issues to maintain service excellence.
- Being closely involved in the financial management of the department, specifically overseeing cost management processes and coordination of billing procedures and monthly reporting. Own commercial performance across client accounts, including budgeting, profitability, utilisation, forecasting, and recovery management.
- Acting as a conduit between our department and other business units within RSM, enhancing collaboration and joint opportunities.
- Building and maintaining strong senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring consistently high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
- Developing the team skillset. Leading, mentoring, and developing high‐performing project management teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and career development.
- Supporting business growth initiatives by contributing to proposals, client pitches, service development, and strategic transformation projects.
- Driving consistency and governance across project delivery methodologies, reporting frameworks, KPIs, and service quality standards.
- Championing innovation and continuous improvement, including the adoption of technology‐enabled solutions, automation, and evolving e‐invoicing and digital reporting requirements.

Preferred qualifications and experience- Significant Project Management experience (10+ years).
- Experience of working within the professional services sector.
- Business agility related certifications are preferred but not essential.
- Exposure to accounting principles and/or VAT Compliance and systems is not essential but useful.
- Line management experience.

- Continuous improvement mindset: consistently seeking better outcomes for the team and driven to develop personally.
- Significant experience leading complex project or programme management functions within tax compliance, professional services, financial services, or a related international environment.
- Commercial acumen: strong commercial acumen with experience managing financial performance, operational metrics, and client profitability.
- Proven ability to manage large‐scale, cross‐border client engagements with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Organised: effective time management and prioritisation, deadline driven.
- Proactive: uses own initiative to identify work and potential issues, self‐motivated to resolve and suggest improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with clients and colleagues at all levels. Ability to tailor approach depending on individual and context.
- Working knowledge of Excel is essential.
- Team focus: ability to work closely and collaborate with peers to achieve common goals.
- Flexibility and adaptability to deliver upon changing priorities and requirements.
