As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with big ambitions -- we have a clear goal to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally. This vision touches everything we do, motivating and inspiring us to become better every day. If you are looking for a firm where you can build a future and make an impact, then RSM is the place for you.

Make an Impact at RSM UK. Our Consulting business brings together diverse advisory experts to deliver six core solutions: Business Transformation, Forensic, Deal Services, Restructuring, Finance Function Support and Risk and Governance. With a bold and ambitious strategy for the next phase, Consulting is investing in its own digital and technology platforms to enable innovation, automation and scalable delivery across our services. As part of this, we are establishing a Consulting-owned and managed Azure environment, operating within firm-wide guardrails but designed specifically to meet Consulting’s delivery, innovation and regulatory needs. This role will play a critical technical and leadership role in designing, building and governing that environment.

Reporting into Consulting Platforms lead, the Consulting Azure Engineer and Architect will work closely with Consulting Digital leadership, delivery teams and internal IT (National Technology (NT)) Cloud Core and Security teams. The role combines architecture, engineering and platform ownership, and requires someone equally comfortable shaping strategy, defining standards, and rolling up their sleeves to implement solutions.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Azure Platform Ownership & Architecture – Own and design Consulting’s Azure platform, defining target architecture, environments, shared services and reusable components that enable secure, scalable and innovative delivery.
  • Governance & Design Authority – Act as the Azure design authority for Consulting, defining standards, patterns and guardrails in alignment with firm-wide policies, and ensuring compliant, proportionate platform use.
  • Security, Risk & Compliance by Design – Embed security-by-design principles across the platform, working closely with Security, Risk and Privacy teams to meet regulatory, legal and InfoSec requirements.
  • FinOps & Operational Excellence – Lead cost management and FinOps practices, and define operational processes covering provisioning, monitoring, resilience, disaster recovery and continuous platform improvement.
  • Hands-on Engineering & Enablement – Build and configure core Azure platform components, support team onboarding, and act as a technical mentor and escalation point for Azure across Consulting.

What we are looking for: You will be a technically strong, pragmatic and collaborative Azure specialist who combines systems thinking with a delivery mindset. We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • Significant hands-on experience designing and operating Azure environments in a regulated or enterprise context.
  • Strong understanding of Azure core services, including:
  • Identity (Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities)
  • Networking (VNets, private endpoints, firewalls, connectivity patterns)
  • Security services and monitoring
  • Azure governance (Policy, Blueprints / equivalents)
  • Experience defining platform-level architectures, not just individual workloads.
  • Practical experience implementing infrastructure using automation and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong understanding of cloud operating models, including environment management, governance and FinOps.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including the ability to challenge constructively.
  • What we can offer you: We recognise that our people are our most important assets. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.

    • Hybrid and Flexible working
    • 27 Days Holiday (with the option of purchasing additional days)
    • Lifestyle, Health, and Wellbeing including financial wellbeing benefits such as financial tools, electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP
    • Access to a suite of 300+ courses on demand developed by our inhouse Talent Development team
