This role provides the opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual to join our growing Accounting, Insight and Advisory (AIA) team, part of our Finance Function Support solution. The AIA team provides accounting solutions, alongside innovative financial insights and process/system optimisation. We seek to enhance efficiency, drive growth and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Our client base is a mixture of entities and sizes, including corporates, owner managed businesses and not-for-profit entities. We work with family businesses, entrepreneurial businesses, owner managed businesses and scaling businesses.

The role is a senior position within the AIA team, contributing to the strategic planning, growth and smooth running of the department/office operationally and financially. An important aspect of the role is the active coaching and development of the more junior members of the team.

As Associate Director in our Birmingham office, you will initially act as the lead for the delivery of AIA services (as Engagement Service Executive - ESE) across a mixed portfolio of clients with responsibility for delivering excellent client service and quality of work.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Contributing towards business development through identifying opportunities, introducing new clients and participating in broader multi-service line pitches
  • Leading the delivery of accounting insight and advisory services on a portfolio of clients
  • Managing the working capital of the above services including budgeting, cost management, billing and debt recoverability
  • Actively coaching and developing more junior team members and overseeing and reviewing work completed by managers, supervisors and assistants
  • Representing RSM as a firm when networking and attending any new client introduction meetings

  • A strong accounting skillset is fundamental. A specialism in one or more of the following areas are highly desirable: Working with entrepreneurial and/or scaling businesses; Sector specialism, for example Legal, Technology, Manufacturing, Property etc
  • Management information reporting
  • Understanding the use of digital solutions for optimising finance function processes
