Make an Impact at RSM UK

You will be a key member of the growing financial reporting advisory national team, with a focus on the clients within the central belt of Scotland. As an Assistant Manager you will support the wider team and assist managers to profitably deliver work across a portfolio of corporate clients, focusing on technical accounting, financial reporting and consolidations. This will include the practical application of accounting standards under FRS 102, IFRS and FRS 101, group reconstructions and accounting considerations, conversion to different GAAPs, technical accounting papers and acquisition accounting support. The role would also include the preparation and/or managing of statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101.

The fast growth of the department will create opportunities to develop further skill sets including business development and coaching of junior staff. It will also present an opportunity to work with a variety of colleagues and businesses across the UK, as well as supporting your local office. A strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting principles is essential. Financial reporting advisory projects usually take the form of a report, therefore good quality report writing skills are also required.

You will make an impact by:

  • Support managers in delivering complex accountancy projects (e.g. IFRS transitions, acquisition accounting, and complex consolidations).
  • Maintain advanced technical expertise through CPD, professional reading, and awareness of the firm’s specialist services.
  • Act as a key client contact, escalating issues as needed and proposing practical solutions.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients and projects, including client care, project delivery, and WIP/billing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, coach junior staff, and ensure deadlines and quality standards are met (with some client travel as required).

What we are looking for:

Are you someone who thrives on variety, loves learning new things, and enjoys connecting with people? If you can spot inefficiencies in everyday life and are passionate about making improvements, this role is perfect for you! We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • ICAS (or equivalent) qualified with strong UK GAAP and IFRS financial reporting expertise.
  • Proven experience in professional practice, ideally within accounting advisory or providing written technical advice.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to add value to clients.
  • Excellent project management, organisational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Experience working with clients, supervising junior staff, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

What we can offer you:

We recognise that our people are our most important assets. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.

  • 26 Days Holiday (with the option of purchasing additional days)
  • Lifestyle, Health, and Wellbeing including financial wellbeing benefits such as financial tools, electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP
