This is an opportunity to join our Prudential Team within Risk Assurance, Financial Services. The Prudential Team specialises in providing prudential regulatory advice and guidance to clients within the financial services sector, supporting them to maintain adequate financial resources and manage risk in accordance with regulatory requirements and their commercial objectives. The team has a diverse client base, from niche challenger firms to long-established financial institutions. The team offers services to clients in the UK and across a number of international jurisdictions.
As a Senior Consultant you will be a key member of the Prudential Team, responsible for delivering advisory and internal audit work, as well as assisting with technical research and knowledge sharing, client relationship management and business development activities. The role-holder will deliver services to clients in accordance with RSM’s UK’s methodologies and risk management objectives.
You will make an impact by:
- Delivering client work, including technical reviews (both advisory and internal audit) of prudential risk matters.
- Supporting engagement managers and other senior colleagues with day-to-day delivery of client engagement activities.
- Conducting structured reviews of documents, models and related materials as well as gap analyses and research into regulatory requirements and industry practices.
- Structuring and conducting client interviews and process walk-throughs.
- Developing solutions and drafting reports which incorporate detailed recommendations.
- Presenting recommendations and feedback to clients.
- Researching and communicating technical regulatory rules within the team, the wider RSM Financial Services sector team and among clients.
- Responsibly managing relevant aspects of the client engagement lifecycle (e.g. monitoring budgets / resourcing requirements).
- Supporting with the production of tender documents and proposals to secure new business.
- Active participation in growing the RSM Financial Services brand among internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting the development of the brand through market research, new proposition design, go to market strategies and thought leadership.
- Producing materials for seminars / events on hot topics.
- Proactively identifying opportunities to publish thought leadership and assisting team members / colleagues to prepare materials for publication.
What we are looking for:
We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:
- Experience of one or more of the following sectors: Banking (including building societies), Wealth and asset management, Insurance (GI, brokers or life).
- Strong working knowledge of prudential risk issues, including prudential regulatory handbooks, technical instructions and applicable legislation.
- Knowledge of how prudential risk processes, governance and controls are typically implemented in one or more industry sectors.
- Good working knowledge of regulatory institutions, their objectives and operations.
- Recent, relevant experience working either in a professional services firm delivering prudential advice or in a regulated financial services business focused on prudential issues.
- Experience of internal audit processes and methodologies would also be beneficial.
- Degree level education (or equivalent experience).
- Professional qualification or working towards one e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIA, FRM etc.
