We are searching for an experienced Corporate Treasury Advisory Associate Director. The opportunity is to help grow RSM’s Risk and Governance solution as an Associate Director in the Corporate Treasury Advisory team, which is part of the firm’s wider Consulting Service Line. The team specialises in advising corporates on treasury strategy, operating models, policies, governance and controls, as well as supporting treasury functions to meet technical and commercial challenges across liquidity, funding, cash management and financial risk management in a dynamic market environment.
The team has a diverse client base, from high-growth mid-market and private equity-backed groups to large listed organisations across a range of sectors and jurisdictions. Working alongside the Partner and Director group, this role will offer an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping our corporate treasury offering and pipeline of work in London. The successful candidate will be proactive in identifying clients and targets in order to develop the team’s capabilities and win new business. You will support the Partners and Directors by independently identifying and initiating business development opportunities to win new work including active networking, writing proposals, presentations and thought leadership.
We support our clients through the delivery of treasury advisory services as well as controls and assurance work (for example, reviewing treasury policies, governance, processes and key controls). This will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in a variety of different projects. You will be supported in your role by a leading training and development programme as well as on the job training and support.
Within RSM’s Consulting Service line you will also collaborate with colleagues across our broader solution set (which includes Business Transformation, Finance Function Support, Forensics and Investigations, Deal Advisory, Restructuring alongside Risk and Governance) to create innovative and practical opportunities to support our clients. In addition, you will line manage a team of staff and help to develop and grow those individuals in their careers with RSM.
Key areas of focus may include:
- Treasury strategy and operating model design;
- Treasury policy, governance and controls;
- Cash management and cash visibility/forecasting;
- Liquidity and working capital optimisation;
- Funding strategy, debt advisory support and covenant reporting;
- Financial risk management (FX, interest rate and commodity risk) and hedging strategy;
- Hedge accounting support (e.g. IFRS 9) and documentation;
- Treasury management system (TMS) selection/implementation support and process improvement;
- Bank relationship management and RFPs;
- Treasury transformation and target operating model design;
- Treasury due diligence for transactions and refinancing.
The role may include travel across the region and on a national level. As you will be a part of the Management team, the role will also include coverage of meetings outside of core hours.
You will make an impact by:
- Managing a Corporate Treasury Advisory team in conjunction with Partners/Directors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of high quality advisory services at clients’ sites when required and in accordance with the firm’s Standards.
- Initiating and leading business development activities to generate growth for the Risk and Governance solution, the Corporate Treasury Advisory service and the wider industry groups.
- Leading and managing agreed client portfolio for the service line and regional area.
- Approving, and if necessary preparing strategy documentation for each client, supported by a fully costed service delivery proposal, for subsequent approval by the Director/Partner.
- Controlling and managing the delivery of client programmes, to ensure that the work is completed to time and budget, providing solutions on any issues as appropriate to the Director/Partner.
- Ensuring the effective planning and utilisation of team members in line with the approved budget - including mapping complex scheduling to optimise profitability.
- Monitoring the effectiveness and quality of work through undertaking effective senior manager review of the work.
- Engaging with the client billing in accordance with the firm’s billing timescales, providing solutions to all potential adverse issues that may impact on the achievement of the agreed client billing and recovery targets.
- Dealing with day-to-day team matters, including feedback on performance on the job, assisting in appraisals, the recruitment process, team welfare and H&S.
- Building relationships with new clients and identifying/acting upon all potential additional work opportunities at new clients or new work at potential clients.
Business development: You will assist with:
- Strategic initiatives;
- Business development activities;
- Developing propositions and responding to tenders;
- Tender/pitch presentations;
- Producing materials for seminars/events on hot topics.
Delivery: Overseeing and delivering client work. The role will require:
- Managing delivery of client projects;
- Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management (including CFO, Group Treasurer, Finance Directors and banking counterparties);
- Conducting structured document reviews and gap analysis against leading practice and relevant accounting/treasury standards;
- Structuring and conducting client interviews and process walk-throughs;
- Developing solutions and drafting reports, policies and detailed recommendations;
- Quality assurance review of work undertaken on client projects;
- Approval of work in line with professional standards.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious and proactive individual with experience in working in an equivalent position within a leading professional services firm or large in-house function within industry. You should also have a ‘can-do’ and proactive attitude and will be used to working on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with a proven track record in meeting deadlines and quality standards. You will also be comfortable initiating and leading business development activities.
As you will be interacting with senior individuals within RSM and the businesses that we work with, excellent communication skills, both orally and written, are critical to this role. You will be able to demonstrate how you have been able to add significant value through your work and been a driver for change in addition to the below requirements.

- Strong corporate treasury experience with a proven track record (in-house treasury, banking/markets, or professional services advisory) and an existing professional network in the sector;

- Knowledge of corporate treasury, banking markets/products and relevant accounting/treasury standards.
Degree level education and/or chartered accountant or equivalent, relevant professional qualification (e.g. AMCT/CTP/ACT qualifications, ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
Driven, motivated, dedicated and resilient, strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; high standard of written and verbal communication & willingness to engage in business and market development activities; experience of working in a corporate treasury function and/or treasury advisory role (in professional services, banking, or industry).
