The RSM UK In-House Legal Team handles a varied workload, supporting RSM by resolving legal, regulatory, and risk management issues proactively and driving commercial improvements. The team comprises 11 lawyers, 2 paralegals, and dedicated administrative support.
We are seeking a Legal Counsel for the disputes side of the In-House Legal Team, based in London or Manchester, reporting to the Head of Dispute Resolution. You will collaborate with RSM’s Audit, Tax, and Consulting Service Lines, as well as Core Functions, to manage risk and advise on a wide range of issues. You will also work closely with senior management on specific issues and long-term projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Advising on and managing claims, drafting pre-action correspondence, preserving evidence, and overseeing each claim to resolution.
- Responding to regulatory inquiries and providing strategic legal advice on matters involving bodies such as the FRC, FCA, and ICAEW.
- Advising on issues like Production Orders, Schedule 36 notices, AML compliance, UK GDPR, FOIA requests, and conducting internal investigations.
- Sharing knowledge and insights to improve processes and protect the business.

- Approximately 5-10 years of post-qualification legal experience.
- Strong experience handling high-value, complex litigation or contentious regulatory matters, in private practice or in-house.
- Technical expertise with the ability to develop well-reasoned arguments and apply knowledge to new scenarios.
- Deep commercial awareness aligned with the firm’s strategy to add value and support business success.
