Are you ready to make a significant impact in the private and scaling business market? RSM is seeking a dynamic and commercially focused Director to join our Finance Function Support team. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-impact solutions to privately owned and entrepreneurial businesses, helping them achieve sustainable growth and success.
As a Director in our Finance Function Support team, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored advisory services, driving business development, and building lasting client relationships. You will be at the forefront of understanding the unique needs of private business owners, offering strategic guidance, and enabling their long-term success.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Leading the delivery of accounting and financial reporting services for a diverse portfolio of privately owned and scaling businesses, in accordance with RSM’s Finance Function Support standards.
- Establishing and maintaining valuable relationships with business owners, providing bespoke advice and solutions, and supporting business growth through targeted development activities.
- Managing complex projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and commercial success, with effective resource planning and briefing of team members to deliver projects in line with RSM’s procedures.
- Actively contributing to the professional development of Finance Function Support team members, promoting a culture of excellence through coaching, mentoring, and growth initiatives.
- Supporting Finance Function Support’s and RSM’s growth through business development activities in London and the Surrey market, identifying opportunities, introducing new clients, and working alongside other service lines as part of multi-service line pitches.
- Actively contributing to RSM’s Industry groups (based on your sector preference) and generating industry specific content to distribute to clients and prospects.
What we are looking for:

- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Extensive experience managing client portfolios within professional practice and a track record of winning new assignments and projects.
- Specialisms in UK GAAP and preferably with a sector specific focus.
- Experience as a line manager, with advanced coaching and development skills.
- Proven expertise in financial reporting, statutory accounts, and advisory for privately owned businesses, including preparation of year-end statutory accounts in line with RSM’s quality guidelines.
- Strategic business development experience, including lead generation, multi-service line pitches, and supporting proposals to new clients.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost management, project delivery, and managing working capital, billing, and debt recoverability for complex projects.
