Our established Fraud Risk Services team is looking for more fraud experts. The ideal candidate has a background and real interest in fraud prevention and can quickly start assisting our clients to identify gaps in their fraud controls and remedy these, or work with their teams to train staff to recognise and prevent fraud. We are looking for people who are already experienced in some of our work areas. Our team provides a range of counter fraud services to public and private sector clients. Many recurring clients are NHS bodies, who are required by the NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) to report against CFA requirements. Our NHS clients contract us for 15 to 150 days per year to provide a full proactive service. In addition, staff are accredited to undertake criminal investigations where NHS clients are the victim of fraud.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking Fraud and Bribery Risk Assessments – working with senior managers to understand controls, test effectiveness, highlight missing/ineffective controls, and score residual risk.
  • Policy reviews – reviewing client policies where fraud or bribery risks exist and ensuring suitable controls are listed to reduce offences and allow disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Liaison with senior staff – reporting to the Director of Finance or Chief Financial Officer, producing and presenting annual work plans and progress reports.
  • Delivering training – preparing and presenting informative training sessions to clients\\\’ staff, from induction for new starters to in-depth sessions for finance, HR or procurement staff, or informing boards about legal requirements.
  • Undertaking proactive exercises – deep-diving into areas of identified fraud risk to test controls and identify any fraud, strengthening procedures.
  • Receipt of fraud referrals – handling complaints from staff, managers or HR, working with the organisation\\\’s Freedom to Speak up Guardian to ensure clear reporting lines.
  • Receiving referrals of fraud, bribery or other offences, identifying estimated loss/gain, key lines of enquiry and proportionality to investigate.
  • Submitting information requests under the Data Protection Act for evidence; liaising with witnesses, gathering evidence, taking witness statements.
  • Undertaking interviews under caution; preparing case papers for the CPS; recognising when sanctions may not be proportionate and recommending internal or regulatory action.
  • Making recommendations to prevent recurrence and working with NHSCFA Financial Investigators to obtain evidence.

  • Be able to pass enhanced security vetting (NPPV + SC – Non-Police Personnel Vetting and Security Clearance).
  • Be able to pass DBS clearance.
  • Excellent verbal communicator, able to articulate complex, sensitive and confidential information to staff, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to construct high-quality reports for varying audiences.
  • A strong ability to organise a varied workload, plan and manage own workload and calendar, ensuring high-quality client service.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, use initiative and strive to exceed client expectations.
