Our Finance Function Support team is a fast-growing national service line, dedicated to helping private businesses across the UK manage their finance operations more effectively. As part of this team, you’ll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking group that supports clients with their day-to-day finance needs, compliance, and strategic growth.
In your role as Assistant, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Southern region’s portfolio of SME corporate clients. You’ll support our clients with day to day finance needs, including bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts. This includes applying accounting standards under FRS 102 and FRS 105 across a wide range of industries and specialist sectors. With the department experiencing rapid growth, you’ll also collaborate with colleagues across different service lines and offices throughout the UK, while supporting your local office.
You’ll make an impact by: By joining our Finance Function Support team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact—supporting SME clients with their financial compliance needs.
- General bookkeeping for clients, including processing of data on several accounting software packages.
- Preparing management accounts under supervision to required standard, ensuring files are prepared and documented with sufficient evidence for review.
- Preparing and reviewing of VAT returns.
- Recognising when information provided by the client is incomplete and inaccurate and take steps to rectify this.

- A keen interest in supporting finance functions within small and medium sized businesses.
- Experience of working in a professional accounting practice, ideal but not necessary.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of Microsoft Office, with high competency with both Excel and Word.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting packages (including Xero), ideal but not necessary.
