Lead and shape the future of global VAT compliance and reporting as a Director within RSM UK’s Global VAT Compliance & Reporting (GVCR) team. Drive operational excellence, scale delivery capability, enhance client experience, and influence the direction of managed compliance services across the UK, EU, and global markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project management function, managing a team of project managers and setting strategic direction, operating model, and delivery standards for global compliance engagements.
- Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of complex, multi‑jurisdictional VAT compliance and e‑invoicing projects across a diverse international client portfolio.
- Track and report client deadlines, ensuring on‑time delivery and premium service.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve processes, scalability, automation, governance and client experience.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new client engagements and escalation point for team issues.
- Oversee onboarding and implementation of new clients, ensuring mobilisation, risk management, resource planning and stakeholder alignment.
- Coordinate internal teams to handle all aspects of client engagements efficiently and effectively.
- Act as senior escalation point for delivery, operational and client‑related matters, managing risk and resolving issues to maintain service excellence.
- Manage the financial performance of the department, including cost management, billing procedures, monthly reporting, budgeting, profitability, utilisation, forecasting and recovery management.
- Serve as a conduit between the department and other RSM business units, enhancing collaboration and joint opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to ensure high client satisfaction and retention.
- Develop the team skillset by leading, mentoring and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and career development.
- Support business growth initiatives through proposals, client pitches, service development and strategic transformation projects.
- Drive consistency and governance across project delivery methodologies, reporting frameworks, KPIs and service quality standards.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement, including technology‑enabled solutions, automation and evolving e‑invoicing and digital reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Significant project management experience (10+ years).
- Experience working within the professional services sector.
- Business agility related certifications are preferred but not essential.
- Exposure to accounting principles and/or VAT compliance and systems is useful but not essential.
- Line management experience.
