Role Overview VAT Assistant Manager – RSM UK. VAT specialists work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a joined‑up service to a diverse range of clients, from middle market businesses to large corporations, combining expertise in accounting, audit and all relevant taxes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control VAT client work, including advisory projects and the review of VAT returns.
- Undertake detailed planning and implementation of VAT work, ensuring an effective and cost‑driven service to clients in line with budgets.
- Manage the interface between a group of clients and the firm to ensure that the agreed expectations of service, quality and cost and the firm’s targets are met.
- Identify and advise on VAT planning opportunities and undertake specialist technical assignments.
- Identify, interview and convert prospective clients and assist other departments in the research and preparation of formal proposals for new work.
- Act as the principal point of contact for clients on VAT queries and work closely with partners, directors and associate directors to manage a client portfolio.
- Develop an advanced level of technical knowledge through personal development opportunities.
- Collaborate across service lines to proactively seek opportunities to generate new business in the region.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ambitions to progress to senior management or director/partner level.
- CTA qualified or qualified via experience.
- Interest or aptitude for business development.
- Proven experience in client handling and project management.
- Proven tax experience in producing high‑quality work within budget.
- Proven indirect tax experience and effective team leadership skills.
