RSK Response have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join our growing team in Glasgow, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. RSK Response is a growing business unit within the RSK Group that specialises in the provision of 24/7 environmental incident response, inspection and maintenance services.
Responsibilities:
- Development and adherence to specific and point of work health & safety risk assessments
- Rapid response to environmental incidents in a variety of urban and rural settings
- Pro-active assessment of pollution risks to the environment and the application of a variety of in-situ techniques for containing and recovering oils or other contaminants of concern
- Environmental monitoring and sampling activities
- Self-confident liaison with client and co-contractors in determining a most appropriate technical response to environmental incidents
- Liaison with technical and managerial support regarding all incidents/projects
- Effective information management and report writing
- Waste management and Duty of Care
- Inspection and maintenance of oil storage areas; electrical transformer bunds; oil water separators & interceptors and associated infrastructure
- Decontamination/Deep Cleaning
- Maintenance of equipment and vehicles
- Stock management
- Drainage/Utilities Inspection
- Working safely within electrical substations and high hazard sites
Additional Information:
- We operate a 24/7 response service for our clients, as such you will be required to work on an 'on call' rota, for which you are compensated.
- Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills are essential.
- Travel required to cover the needs of the business throughout Scotland and occasionally England and Wales.
- The occasional need to stay away from home when required.
- Incident response training is provided and other training and development opportunities will be available.
- Opportunities available for collaborative working with other Response and Remediation businesses with the RSK Group.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A full, clean driving license (essential)
- Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office (essential)
- Utilities/Civil/Construction Site Experience (desirable)
- Excavator/dumper experience/certification (desirable)
- Basic Project management experience (desirable)
- BSc in relevant environmental field (desirable)
- CSCS (desirable)
- First aid (desirable)
Salary and Benefits:
- £26,000 plus standby and overtime payments where appropriate
